DRUGSTORE
PICCADILLY RECORDS WED 24/6/98

Due on at 6 p.m. things did not look too good when I turned up to find the shop still closed and a sign saying they were due on at 6:30, which in turn appeared to be a bit optimistic as they had only started to unload the equipment at this time
drugAn hour late, at 7pm, Isabel with her broken toe, limped behind the counter of Piccadilly records belying her tiredness and discomfort with an infectious smile on her face and a mischievous tone in her voice.
Apologies out of the way in a thoroughly engaging, impossible not to forgive manner, Drugstore proceeded to play a 50 minute set, varying between a 4/5 piece line up, to Isabel alone regaling us with her beautifully crafted tales of love, life and the bits of fluff in the belly button of life.
Never mind that Thom Yorke could not help out on the duet of `Kill the Presidents’ he wasn't missed.  But did we really buy the single for his reputation and ignore the album for which that was merely an appetizer?  `Fraid so, but we can still put that to rights
For the crowd of 50 or so patient punters if this is only a warm up for her concerts later in the year then they promise to be more eagerly awaited than delivery of a season ticket for Old Trafforddrugstore
A petite person she packs a powerful, crisp clear voice, which on the rate at which she consumes, no eats, cigarettes she has no right to possess.  Perhaps the volume of red wine consumed acts as a counter balance?
No light show, unless you count the standard fluorescent bulbs - not that there's anything wrong with fluorescent light you understand - and with a skillful manipulation, she nevertheless, captivates an audience ever willing to allow themselves to be the subject of her playful teasing,
drugstore3Isabel, If you ever get to read this consider Benson & Hedges as your next tour sponsor.  Failing that, there must be some vineyard in need of publicity!
And I'm almost sorry that Ronaldo wont have a winners medal this year
A note of appreciation to all Piccadilly records for producing `a bit of a do'
