Jackie O
Roadhouse 15/1/02

Other Jackie O Gigs
Sparse, empty sounds punctuated by wall shaking chunks of bass that ricochet around the Roadhouse before bouncing around your head. Now more reliant of a drum machine, 3 piece B-FAB UK create sounds that seemingly defy classification. Raw bruising slices of noises that are discharged to refreshing effect. The large crowd appear transfixed, not knowing what to make of what they are hearing, which can be a good thing.
Jackie O move onto the stage and the audience draw ever nearer in eager anticipation. With Jackson's stage presence and ability to control the crowd ever increasing, he taunts, entices then walks amongst the audience, soaking in their energy, feeding off the charged atmosphere
Leanne's frenetic drumming and Jo-Jo's insistent bass provide the backdrop for Jackson to lay his surf/garage guitar licks
The dark, brooding, intensity that is Sonar Yen emerge from the shadows. Snarled vocals, drums not so much as being hit but undergoing a sustained attack all meshing together with furious fretwork to riveting effect.
Three bands, disparate in styles yet common in their ambition of creating sound palates that are fresh yet totally contrasting. Another success for Richard and his crew
