MUSIC IN MANCHESTER

SNUG
MANCHESTER ROADHOUSE, 12/5/97

If it was possible to bottle exuberance, vitality and refreshing innocence then Snug are the SNUGclosest anyone has got to it since Kenickie.  Whereas many bands would have shrunk behind the microphones with a small audience, they used it to their advantage and produced a vibrant performance to blow away those Monday blues.
Turning their set into the equivalent of a family affair minus the fights, this 4 piece bounced, laughed and played their way though a 30 minute set as if it their lives depended upon it.  None of the cynical world weariness of a band performing yet another grinding tour.
Pogoing with an enthusiasm to give the impression that it was something that they had invented, their tight guitars, bass and drums sound hit the happy spot each and every time
A set that varied in pace from the frenetic, pop type punk to more restrained tuneful numbers always held the attention and as this group move on, I hope they remember how they created their early infectious tunes
