Dub & Indie? Funk & folk? Psychedelic tinted with baggy? Who knows
The normal result for such a collection of assorted style is a full on
collision, a mess, but this lot somehow - no doubt through intent
rather than luck- manage to avoid that route interweaving the
disparate styles, mainly around the strident, controlling rhythm of
bongos & drums to produce shifting patterns that should be out of
sync, but strangely work together
Taking the stage as a 5 piece but
using tapes & loops almost as
though they are a 6th member they
just about manage to fit onto the
stage. Any attempts at energetic
movements across the area would
probably result in someone getting a fret board rammed in a painful place
Combined with a vocalist who has the range and strength to add the icing to the
cakes
At times it appears as though she is miming to the tape, but it is in fact of getting
around the lack of a second vocalist for back up, and works well. No doubt we will
be hearing more from this lot.
