It's still raining in Manchester, only today its heavier.   The grey atmosphere mirors some of the sore heads on display at the start of day 2 of the music fest

A tongue in cheek display by Loafer included back handed gems such as "Local Guru" & "No room for living in a room filled with dead punk rockers"

Despite the handicaps of having the guitarist in hospital with a broken leg and a vocalist whose voice is f*****,  the set from Nudge contains as much verve & energy as any other

An impromptu appearance by Manc super group Snakes.   Formed from the bastard offspring of hub of Jackie O & Polythene they show their recklessness and lack of fear when Darren realise his guitar is live.   No, not just switched on, but the top string gives him an electric belt every time he touches it

One man and his dog, er I mean computer, ANXEION supplies his version of dark electronica.   Walls shake, eardrums bounce, and that not all due to the bottles of Scorpion (£1.50 each).    Incendiary guitar work explodes from Tsuji Giri, Consi, eyes closed, arms flailing as he urges on his cohorts on at an increasing furious pace

Amplifier show off their grunge roots whilst fresh (?) from their performance in London the previous night, Jackie O treat the now packed venue their own version of alcohol (& champagne, thanks Jo) fuelled, speed, country punk

The malevolent vocals that are Sonar Yen reflect the blackness of the storm outside, the out of control momentum seemingly never ending.  And I didn't get a CD

The Manchester musicians are a friendly set, often sharing equipment, and tonight, Polythene use the services of a Tsuji guitarist for their set, and this time Darren manages to avoid getting electrocuted.

Then the surprise of the night.   Who would expect a punked up version of "Rings of Fire" (the original man in black, Johnny Cash" quickly followed by a Ramones cover "Rockaway Beach" from the ever resourceful Fi-lo Radio?    And it rocked

So things are running late, and Oceansize are still to deliver their set. Who said it would finish on time and it did, would that not be against the traditions of rock and roll.?   Only don't wake me too early tomorrow
